BetterWay products

We want to support our customers in consuming technology responsibly. That's why we offer a wide range of more sustainable product alternatives.

Our targets up to the 2025/26 financial year:

  • 7,000 more sustainable products in the range
  • 20 per cent share of sales with more sustainable products

BetterWay: Orientation for conscious consumption

We inform our customers not only about technical properties, but also about the sustainability of products. This enables them to make informed purchasing decisions. To make it easy for them to recognise more sustainable products, we have been labelling them with our own logo since the 2021/22 financial year: BetterWay.

BetterWay: Clear criteria for more sustainable

Basically, a more sustainable technology product consumes less energy and resources - from production to use. What this means in concrete terms depends on the product category in question: Washing machines are more sustainable if they consume less energy and water during use. Smartphones score highly if they are easy to repair and can therefore be used for longer. And accessories are more sustainable if they are made from recycled materials - because this also saves valuable resources. In addition to ecological aspects, we also take social and ethical criteria into account - such as the protection of human and labour rights along the supply chain.

The requirements that a product must fulfil in order to receive the BetterWay logo are based on this: IT products must be rated as sustainable by an independent, external testing organisation (Blue Angel, EPEAT or TCO Certified). We label accessories with BetterWay if they have a recognised recycling certificate such as the Global Recycled Standard. If there are no ecolabels from independent institutes for a product category, we use our own product group-specific criteria at   , which we developed together with TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH. We regularly review the minimum standards for more sustainable products.

Remanufactured products: Cycle instead of buying new

Refurbished products are also a more sustainable product alternative: used, professionally reconditioned appliances. The devices are technically flawless and in most cases can hardly be distinguished from new items visually - their condition is transparently labelled (grading). However, their continued use saves energy and resources that would be consumed in the manufacture of a new appliance. You can find out more about this offer at here.

Our target for the 2025/26 financial year: 200,000 remanufactured products sold.
