Our two-year trainee program specifically prepares you to take on a challenging leadership position in one of our stores.
In the first year, you will immerse yourself in various functional areas and learn how our omnichannel business model works – from managing processes to creating unique shopping experiences for our customers. During this time, you will build the foundation for your future leadership role.
In the second year, the focus is on your development as a leader: you will work on your individual leadership style, learn how to motivate teams, and successfully develop employees. Hands-on training, exciting projects, and on-the-job experiences will help you build high-performing teams.

You will delve deeply into the topics of the respective program focus, gaining comprehensive insights into the various facets of the interrelated departments. Additionally, assignments outside your home base will enhance your skill set and provide an interdisciplinary network. At MediaMarktSaturn, you can start your career as a trainee either nationwide in the stores or at the headquarter in Ingolstadt. The market trainee program trains future leaders in sales. At the headquarter in Ingolstadt, you can choose from trainee programs in areas such as Finance – Controlling/Accounting, Finance Treasury, Human Resources, Commercial, Omnichannel, or General Management.
2. How do I apply for a trainee program?
On the MediaMarktSaturn career website, you can get an overview of all available job offers. There, you can apply directly for a trainee program at MediaMarktSaturn using the online application form. Please note that not all positions are advertised at all times. We regularly adjust our job postings, so certain positions may be temporarily unavailable.
3. What are the requirements?
The market trainee program requires a university degree. You should also have a passion for retail and a strong interest in new technology trends. Enjoying interacting with people and having a customer-focused mindset are crucial. A readiness to take on responsibility and decisiveness complete your profile.
For the headquarter trainee program, a university degree is required. Initial work experience in relevant areas is advantageous. Additionally, excellent English and German skills are desirable. Independence, responsibility, strong communication skills, teamwork, and a high willingness to learn round out your profile.
4. What is the recruitment process like?
The application process for market and headquarter trainees depends on the respective field, as different skills and knowledge are required. Generally, it includes two to three interviews. Additionally, depending on the specialization, case studies, analytical tests, and language tests may be part of the selection process.
5. When does the trainee program start?
The market trainee program starts annually on October 1st.
The headquarter trainee programs begin on April 1st and October 1st.
6. How long does the trainee program last?
The market trainee program lasts 24 months.
The headquarter trainee program in Ingolstadt lasts 18 months.
7. How is the trainee program structured?
As a market trainee, you start with a comprehensive onboarding at the headquarter in Ingolstadt. You then go through a development and deepening phase where you learn all the processes of our omnichannel business model. In the second year, the focus is on leadership and project work, accompanied by a change of market.
In the headquarter trainee program, you also begin with intensive onboarding. You then spend two weeks in the market to experience our omnichannel business models firsthand. Back at the headquarter, you rotate through at least four program-specific departments and also gain insights into cross-functional areas to broaden your perspective.
8. What kind of program support is there?
At the beginning of the trainee program, you are assigned a buddy who supports you during the onboarding process. Throughout the program, you participate in selected training events and are mentored by a mentor. Additionally, you complete an additional qualification: as a market trainee, you take the trainer aptitude test before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
As a trainee at the headquarter, you develop a future skill, such as in Data Analytics or agile working. Regular expert lectures and practical projects round out the trainee program and ensure comprehensive support.
9. Is there an opportunity for international development?
The market trainee program aims to prepare you for a responsible leadership position and therefore focuses on assignments in two markets within Germany.
The headquarter trainee programs include an international assignment.
MediaMarktSaturn also offers an international Management Trainee Finance Program, which includes international assignments every six months. This allows you to collaborate with colleagues at various locations, gaining international experience.
10. What perspectives are there after the trainee program?
After the trainee program, the goal is to transition into a target position. MediaMarktSaturn also offers numerous further training opportunities that promote your professional and personal development. This way, you can develop into a technical specialist or pursue leadership positions.
